Q) What
type of insurance do you accept?
A) In order
for me to give you the time and quality care you deserve,
I do not accept any HMO/DMO. With that type of insurance
I would have to run an assembly line. If you have a
PPO or a private insurance, then you would be able to
see me. At that time we will do an exam and set up a
treatment plan and then explain your
benefits. If you do not know what type of insurance
you have, we will be happy to assist you in checking
it. Hope to see you here. If you have any questions,
don't hesitate to call.

| Q) I am a big coward when
it comes to going to a dentist - (I am a needle-a-phobic!).
I've read that you have something called "The Wand".
Would you mind explaining what that's like? How is it
virtually painless?? Please let me know. A part of my
filling fell out and I'm stressed!!
A) "The
Wand" is a computer controlled anesthesia delivery
system.It represents a state-of-the-art method to conistently
and comfortably administer local anesthesia to our patients.
The onboard microprocessor helps us deliver effortless,
consistent and virtually imperceptible injections. Patients
who have experienced a WAND injection are amazed at
how comfortable it was. One study found that fear and
anxiety levels associated with dental injections were
dramatically reduced. The Wand delivers an anesthetic
drip which precedes the needle, creating an anesthetic
pathway. The combination of an anesthetic pathway and
a controlled flow rate results in an effective and often
pain-free injection.

Q) Just
wondering if your new laser is in use yet and how thigs
are going with it.( I thought I'd let you get some practice
first before I make my appointment ). Just kidding.
I'm very curious about it's role in your practice and
have a few questions. Do you use it just for cavity
preperations? Is it really pain free? Can it be used
for large or small cavities?
A) Thank
you for your interest in our practice and our laser.
Our new laser is working out great. In most cases, we
do not need to give a shot, which eliminates that all
day numb feeling. Our patients tell us they like it
much better than conventional means of tooth preparation.
The laser can be used for small or large cavities. Of
course, there are still occasions which require the
standard handpiece. After taking x-rays, we will evaluate
whether or not you are a candidate for laser fillings.

| Q) I have 8 small cavities,
very small. Is it possible to get them laser filled, and
painless? I have a very short pain tolerance...
A) Depending on how small
the cavities are, some can be treated with flouride,
if they pass that stage, yes they can be filled painlessly
with the laser. For more information on our laser visit

| Q) Do you take the conservative
approach pertaining to dental care? Do you handle all
aspects of treatment personally? I have been in Florida
four years now and haven't found anyone I am comfortable
with. I curently see my dentist in MA once a year on my
annual vacation in August (it's usually warm then) but
I know I eventually need to find someone down here. I
have visited one dentist in Orlando who was recommended
to me on two emergency occasions. However, I was not totally
comfortable with him. While he seemed to lean toward the
conservative approach he had tendencies to be over aggressive
in recommending treatment. Also, he didn't do all of the
work himself and referred others in his office to perform
certain tasks.
A) Yes I do take the conservative
approach..Yes I handle all aspects of dental treatment
personally, but there are certain procedures that I
send to a great group of specialists that I feel are
great in their field. I do most treatment in my office,
but I realize that some treatment aspects need specialized
training... For example, you would not want a heart
surgery performed by a general practitioner. I work
closely with each specialist in regards to my patients
and rest assured, you are in good hands. I take pride
in my office and treat each patient as I would treat
my own family.

Q) I'm a fairly attractive
39 year old male. My teeth are a dark yellowish color
and brushing doesn't seem to help get thm any whiter.
I'm seriously considering dentures. I've become so self
conscious about the color of my teeth that I no longer
smile with pride nor do I go out as much as I used to.
Is/are dentures a viable option?
A) If
there is nothing wrong with your teeth other than color
than dentures are not an option. There are much better
ways to solve esthetic problems. Bleaching, Veneers,
Crowns, etc. There are many options which vary for each
patient. We'd love to see you here, but if our location
is not convenient for you, my best advise is to find
a Dentist that you can trust and see what your options
are.

| Q) My teeth and gums
are in horrible shape. In fact, my glands were swollen
a few weeks back and when I went to the family doctor,
he was under the impression that a gum infection could
be causing the swelling, and advised me to go to the dentist
(the swelling has since dissipated). Unfortunately (1)
I am on an HMO, and (2) I do not like the dentist in my
plan. Could you advise a general estimate of what it would
cost to begin the healing process in my mouth if I would
have to pay for everything? Thanks!
A) As with anything that
needs to be repaired, a professional needs to look at
it and diagnose the problem before it can be repaired
and a price quote can be given. The same goes with your
teeth and gums. Many Dentists in town accept HMO Discount
plans, so your first choice may be to find another dentist
that accepts your HMO. Unfortunately sometimes it may
take a couple months before you get an appointment at
Dentist on your HMO discount plan. You may ask your
friends and family who they go to and if they like the
Dentist on the plan. Another, and what I feel is a better
option, is to see if your employer offers different
options. There are numerous reasons why I advise patients
not to go with an HMO and why I am proud not to accept
any in my office.
